Nissan Repair: 4th gear stuck, nissan sentra, clutch cable

Question
Here is my history:
I bought a Nissan sentra 1996 about 1 month ago with 86K miles, and manual transmission, everything looks fine except for a little hard clutch the seller told me he just put a new clutch on it, but everything else looks ok. Then when the weather cool down I start to have problems with the clutch because sometimes it wont release and with the starter look like spin it  but don't crank so I decide gett a new starter.I put the new starter on and try to adjust the clutch a little, but look like the cable was too long and no room for adjustment, when I finished my work I give a try to my new starter at first time it make a weird noise like if something was around the flywheel I turned off and try it again and noise went away I drove the car for a while in the parking lot and it's look ok but then while I was driving I had some problems to shift to 2nd and 3rd when I shift to 4th gear it just stuck and I cannot move it from 4th anymore. Right now the car is parked with the shift stuck I did check the linkage and its ok but still can move the stick.
It's a problem with the Clutch?
or with the Transmission?
I really appreciate any help

Answer
Byron,

I think the problem is two fold.  First, the clutch cable needs to be adjusted to get the clutch to release all the way.  Second, the shift linkage for the manual shifter needs to be adjusted.  I would be the shift bushings are gone and that is causing part of the problem.  Remember that the last owner put a clutch in and I am sure things are out of adjustment and you might have a bolt or two wrong.  Remove the starter and check to see if it is correct for the car since you say it made strange noise after you replaced it.
