Nissan Repair: 87 Nissan Sentra idle speed, nissan sentra, vacuum leak

Question
It took awhile to order the mixture solinoid but I got it installed yesterday.  Unfortunatly it didn't make any difference.  It still hunts trying to idle when it warms up.  Do you have any other suggestions?

Thanks
Mark

Question -
I have a 87 sentra with the E16S engine and electronic controlled carb.  I've been struggling to get it to idle properly for some time.  Here is what i've done so far.

When I bought this car it idled rough so I thought it had a vacuum leak and would be easy to fix.  I know better now but I found at least 3 vacuum lines with leaks which I replaced and the pcv system totally pluged.  Replaced those things and then it wont idle when warm at all.  It idles ok when cold but as soon as it trys to switch from open loop carb control to closed loop the idle speed starts hunting and eventually it dies.  It will always restart as that is open loop but if its warm/hot it won't run unless you crack the throttle manually.  It runs just fine on the road but dies at every stop.

I have checked the vcc control to manual spec and replaced the idle speed control actuator (didn't make a difference).  I checked all the sensors and valves covered in the manual and all seem to work.  Finally I put in a carb kit.  Put all back together and it idled when hot but still hunted some.  After driving a few days it goes back to dieing when hot just like before.

I checked the idle mixture solinoid valve while the carb was apart and it does work but I still wonder if I should have replaced it.  I have also replaced the ox sensor, checked and gapped the plugs, replaced plug wires, and checked the ECU.  This one is pre engine codes so it just gives green or red blinking lights.  They respond just like the manual says they should.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Answer -
Mark,

Replace the idle mixture valve and you will be fine.  Email me back if you have problems.  I have done too many of these to remember.  And, that should solve your problem

Answer
Mark,

There is an electronic valve in the carburetor that needs to be replaced.  Take the top off the carburetor and you will see it.  Dealer item from Nissan as I have not been able to find one at a parts store.  $35 to $50 bucks depending on your discount at the dealer.
