Nissan Repair: failure to start 1997 nissan altima, nissan altima, jump leads

Question
I recently bought a 1997 Nissan Altima and drove it today for the first time. It started fine first time (has an immobiliser) and I drove to the store 5 minutes away. But when I got back into the car it failed to turn over at all. Nothing. I eventually got it started with jump leads but as soon as I turned it off and tried to restart it - again nothing. I read some online forums that mention a Cam Positioning Sensor that sounds relevant but this seems to be mainly for the 2003 model?

Any advice before I call AAA and have it towed somewhere would be appreciated.

Answer
Go out to the car and try to start it again. If nothing happens, turn the headlights on and see if they are working. If not, your battery is dead. If they are on bright, try wiggling the battery connections to see if they are loose. This will ,at times cause the starter not to engage.
