Nissan Repair: 92 240 sx A/C, 240 sx, wont kick

Question
I have an A/C problem on my 1992 240sx mfg. date 08/91.
The A/C stopped cooling.
The light on the dash A/C button dose not come on, but the other button lights work.
The Fan works on all speeds.
I have changed the relays under the hood.
I have checked the fuse under the dash it is good.
I have went to the junk yard and found 3 other 240s and have tried changing the A/C control units without any luck, some of them didnt even work the fan I guess they are wired different.
I have check with Nissan for an IC Board for the control unit, this board has all the A/C and Fan Switches mounted on it. I have taken this IC Board out and it dosnt look burnt or damaged.
What I think is for some reason the A/C switch is not getting power to send to the under hood relay to kick the compressor on.
I have tested the switch on the IC Board and it is working fine.
So my AC Compressor wont kick on unless I jump it out at the relay under the hood, and the light that is in the AC Button wont come on when pressed.
Thanks for any help

Answer
John,

Your likely out of freon. The light not coming on is telling you that the compressor is not detecting freon, therefor will not run. You are jumping the sensor under the hood which inturn bypasses the sensor and makes the compressor run without freon. This will cause damage to the compressor. 98.9% of all A/C failures are due to leaks. I would find an A/C guy and have your system charged and inspected of leaks. Hope this helps.
