Nissan Repair: 1996 Maxima not starting, neutral safety switch, turning the key

Question
Started the car five times today without a problem.  Fifth time was in the evening and the only thing I did differently was turn on the lights after starting the car.  Got home, parked the car for 5 minutes.  Went back out and turned the key. Nothing happened.  Indicator lights on dash came up no problem; headlights work no problem; but the engine does nothing.  No turning over at all.  No clicking sounds.  Nothing.  Starter? Ignition switch? Loose connection between them? Any ideas?

Answer
John,

It could be the neutral safety switch.  Try turning the key while shifting from park to neutral and back.  If the switch is failing it might start in neutral.  And, if it does replace the neutral safety switch.  Email me back and let me know what you find.
