Nissan Repair: Catalytic converter, nissan pathfinder, baja peninsula

Question
Hi,

I have a Nissan Pathfinder 1996, i have a dude about the catalytic converter. Down here in Baja Peninsula, Mexico, the weather is usually vey hot, and mostly os the cars don´t use the converter (due the owners decide uninstall it). Do this affect the car efficence if is uninstall it? Can i do it with out any problem?

Thanks for you response

Answer
Omar,

If you take the converter off and the Mexican government has no problem with that get a couple of anti foul pulgs and cut the ends off them and screw them into the back oxygen sensor hole and screw the oxygen sensor into the two anti foul plugs and you should be fine.  These are the ones that you would use for a car that uses oil and keeps the plug from getting fouled.
