Nissan Repair: Engine overheating, nissan xterra, radiator fluid

Question
No the check engine light is not on, nor did it come on? Also the truck was struck by lightening 2 months ago, and ecm (computer module) and radio was replaced. The temp needle went to the middle but there was no indication that it went up in the red. Also this is a V6 engine.

2002 Nissan Xterra XE, 74000, two days ago the engine started leaking what look like water and radiator fluid. I took it to the dealership and they said that the truck overheated but cant' me why it overheated. I recently had the ECM replaced and that has been the only major change in the truck. They could not find any holes or problems w/ the radiator or water pumps. Do you have any idea what I can have them look for?

Hi Maggie,

Is there a check engine light on? Did someone just fill the overflow tank? Has the needle gone way up in the red on the dash? Will the Red Sox get it together in time to win the American League East? hehehehe Just playin'. Let me know at least on the serious questions, and we'll go to the next step!

Answer
Since the guage never indicated an overheat problem, I would say your ok. Probably an over full return tank. I would assume that the dealer pressure checked it.

Just wondering why the lousy rating? You have a truck, struck by lighting and I'm supposed to guess why you have a fluid leak? You indicate that the gauge never read hot, so what am I supposed to say with the next to nothing I have to work with? Look at my other ratings... Thanks tons, hope it doesn't blow up on you. I'm a volunteer for crying out loud.
