Nissan Repair: nissan slave cylinder replacement, slave cylinder replacement, clutch pedal

Question
my slave cylinder is leaking fluid and i need to how to change it

Answer
Tyler,

Simple bolt on installation.  After you remove the hose disconnect the two bolts that hold it on and replace it with a new one.  Now, here is where it gets interesting.  You have to bleed the air out of the cylinder.  There is a bleeder screw like on brakes.  Top off the fluid and then open the line at the slave cylinder and then close it after fluid starts to run out.  Now, have someone press the pdeal to the floor and open the bleeder screw again.  Do not let them take their foot off the clutch pedal until you close the screw.  It is a good idea to put a clear hose on the bleeder screw and put the other end in a clear bottle so you do not get brake fluid everywhere and to keep air from getting back into the slave cylinder.  The pedal might stick at the floor so the person might have to use their toe to pull the pedal back to the normal position.  Keep checking the fluid to make sure the resevoir does not run dry.  Use a good DOT3 brake fluid.
