Nissan Repair: 1999 nissan sentra automatic shifting problems, nissan sentra, shift cable

Question
I'm having problems with my 1999 (automatic transmission) nissan sentra 1.6 liter shifting at the correct rpm and also having problems finding a service/repair manual for it too.  I press the gas pedal to accelerate and it will shift at 4500-6000rpms it redlines at 7000 and on most occasion when I'm sitting at a light or stop sign and press the gas pedal it goes up to 4500 rpm and it literally jerks itself as it's shifting into 2nd gear.  What can I do to fix this problem.  Thanks, JR

Answer
Jennifer,

First,

Have the fluid and filter changed.  The problem is usually a stuck valve because the fluid gums up.  The hard shift into second is probably the shift cable not being adjusted properly.  You can obtain a factory service manual from nissanusa.com
