Nissan Repair: 95 altima stalling, fuel pressure regulator, air meter

Question
Hello,
Heres the problem. 95 Altima with 139K miles. Now that problem is that the car will idle erratic and if you were to press hard on the gas pedal rpms lower and car dies out, almost if there was no fuel. However if you ease into the pedal car will not die out and will rev. Now I checked the dist and there is no oil inside of it. I also cleaned out the T.B and MAF sensor and still same problem. Any suggestions. Thanks

Answer
Andrius,

Check the fuel pressure to see that you are getting sufficient pressure and that the fuel pressure regulator is not blown.  Check the intake hose between the MAF and the throttle body to see that there are no cracks and all clamps are connected tight.  No unmetered air is getting in.  These are the two most likely suspects.  Either not getting fuel or the air is getting by the air meter.  If these are good then get a Hyanes manual and check the air meter for the proper readings with a multi-meter.  The MAF will screw up and not set codes sometimes.
