Nissan Repair: Swirl removal, nissan altima, auto body supply

Question
i have an 02' Nissan Altima and I'm having a difficult time getting rid of swirl marks on my paint. I have a Dewalt variable speed rotary buffer and i do know how to use it. what I don't know is the best type of pad (currently using a white tufted foam pad)and No. 9 Meguires swirl remover. i don't want to use anything more aggressive but I'm at my wits end trying to get rid of them and nothing seems to work. I'm not making it worse, it's just not getting any better. Any suggestions would be most welcome.

thanks

Answer
Does your Meguires have ANY grit in it to the toach...whatsoever???

If so, take it back.

You need a creamy, non-abrasive, polishing coumpound...like Elmer's Glue, but not sticky.

Go to a real Auto Body supply store...see if they still sell 3M's Finesse.

Use it with a sponge...are you certain your sponge pad is not contaminated, is it new, is it fresh--as a used one may be scratching up your paint.  Buy a new one and see if that fixes it using Meguires.  If not, then use Finesse.

Let me know, but you're right...you don't need anything aggressive to get swirls out.
