Nissan Repair: no dash lights, nissan xterra, stering wheel

I have a 2001 nissan xterra and my friend installed a new stereo in it and then the next day I was driving to work and my dash lights were barley on and I could not turn them up the then the next day they would not even turn on at all I checked the fuse box by the stering wheel and the one by the battery but they were all good and I was wondering if you have any ideas before I take it to the dealer ship.

If the aftermarket radio was wired wrong you will need to correct the problem as the power is probably backfeeding into the lighting circuit and that is why you have no instrument lights.  Check the wiring diagram and make sure the wire for the instriment lights, that also gives power to the light for the radio is not wired wrong.
