Nissan Repair: 95.5 Pathfinder Transmission?, cottman transmissions, control settings

Question
My XE-V6 auto is acting up. This does not occur every day but tends to happen on warmer days. It also happens regardless of cruise control settings. When the overdrive kicks in at higher speeds(i.e. passing/climbing an incline), it will not kick back out. The RPM's normally run at 2,500 but jump to 4,000. Once this happens, the car will not shift properly -2nd to third, third to forth, etc. You can tell the motor is strained and begins to run hotter. The only way to reset this condition is by pulling over, turning off the engine, and re-starting. Could this be a sensor, thermostat?

Answer
Hi Phil,

I used to have one of these... Awesome truck. Towed my boat at 85 mph every weekend.

This is a bad sensor somewhere in the transmission or a speed sensor. The check transmission or check engine light is probably on. I suggest taking it to a shop that can scan for codes. Cottman Transmissions will do this for free. If you like what the guy tells you, then let him fix it, if you still have questions, give me the codes and I will tell you what is up.
