using the key in the door lock does not turn the factory security alarm off. the motor will not turn over due to the starter override. when any door is opened, even with the doors unlocked, the alarm goes off. my question is, how can the alarm be turned off?

If the key will not turn the alarm off and the wires on the back of the lock switch are intact would mean the body control module would need to be replaced.  First, remove the door panel and see if the wires are on the back of the switch and that the switch is functioning properly.  If these are good then the body control module (alarm box) would have to be replaced.
