Nissan Repair: Placing a new starter in, metric sockets, haynes manual

Question
I am a complete novice when it comes to working on cars. But the more I ask around, people tend to think that I can replace my starter for my 2002 Nissan Quest.  How would I go about doing that? I'm working with bare minimum tools.

Thanks for your help!

Answer
Juan,

You need a good set of metric sockets as a minimum along with a couple of extensions and a cheater pipe or breaker bar to get the bolts loose.  I would get a Haynes manual as it shows pictures of what needs to be done.  But, there are basically two bolts that hold it on and a plug on connector and a battery cable for starting current.  It is an easy job with the metric tools.  Be sure to disconnect the negative side of the battery first as not to short anything out.  The large cable that goes to the starter is hot all the time so it is important to have the battery disconnected prior to removal of the starter.
