Nissan Repair: Nissan Maxima dashboard lights, nissan maxima, dashboard lights

Question
Dear expert,
I have Nissan Maxima 2001 with 70,000 miles on it, and for the past several months can see "check engine" light on, then off, then it could be "check brakes" and "battery" light on, then off, then it could be "ABC" light on and off; these lights could be on or off for several minutes or several days, sometimes all of them off.  At Autozone they checked a computer code - it means bad oxigen sensor.  Do you think it is true, or it is a bad computer?  Thank you

Answer
Yelena,

I would remove the instrument cluster and clean the contacts on it before I replaced anything.  Then, reset the codes and drive it and see if the lights stop coming on.  Email me back if you have difficulties.  Go to Radio Shack and get tuner cleaner in an aerosol can and just a spritz on the contacts where the wiring loom connects and the connection itself and then get a number 2 pencil and lightly wipe the contacts once and then reconnect it.  Do not get the tuner cleaner on the clear lense as it will melt it...  Put the cluster back in and you should be fine.
