Nissan Repair: 98 Pathfinder, universal joints, shift point

Question
My 98 automatic Transmission has a slight vibration when shifting at 40 miles per hour. I guess that is the 2-3 shift point. Would a transmission flush cure this or am I in for a bigger repair? There is 86,000 miles on it.

Answer
Gene,

Check the universal joints and engine mounts first.  This includes the one that is at the transmission first.  Now, if the motor mounts are good you could do a change on the fluid and see if that helps.  But, a vibration is usually related to rotating things like driveshafts and they are connected to the transmission and rear end via universal joints.  With the years these get old and dry and when spinning fast they will vibrate.
