Nissan Repair: 1998 Nissan Altima Window Switch, nissan altima, master switches

Question
My 98 Nissan Altima front driver side window won't roll up.

I don't know if it's the master switch because the other windows work and the driver's side goes down. I've looked at it and can't see if anything is broken.

However, if it is the switch, will I get shocked if I don't disengage the battery (power) to the door?

Answer
Edwin,

It is the master switch since you say it goes down but not up.  The cause is due to mean time between failure.  You use that switch the most.  I have a 2000 Masima and have had three master switches.  On the Maxima it is due to the way water leaks in when you open the door.  It runs down right into the switch and after a few years it fails.  No, with the car off you can remove the switch and replace it.  rockauto.com or courtesynissan.com can get you the switch cheap on-line.  If you can't wait I would check around before going to the dealer since it will cost something like $90 bucks.
