Nissan Repair: 1993 Altima Gear shift, vehicle speed sensor, electrical diagnosis

Hello Suderth,

I showed my car to the transmission shop.

The analyser says "01, revolution sensor circuit is shorted or disconnected"

Also now my speedometer jumps to 35 m/hr at Parking (but in analyser, vehicle speed sensor shows zero at Parking) and speedometer starts showing proper m/hr once the car is moving.

Does the vehicle speed sensor and revolution sensor are same?

I have no idea about this.

Please help me on this.

I have Nissan 1993 Altima GLE.

Recently I had a gear shifting problem(Gear slipped). When I showed to trany shop,they suggested to rebuilt the transmission (rebuilt torque converter,with new clutch).

Then I rebuilt the transmission in a trany shop.

I noticed that if I start my car and drive in the morning, the rpm does not show indications of gear change.

But when I start the car and drive in the afternoon (warm), I noticed the gear change happenning.

Sometimes when I switch on the car, overdrive light is blinking for 7 seconds and goes off

I am not sure the gear shifting problem still exists?

Can you please help me on this?

If the overdrive light is blinking there is a problem with the transmission.  Take it back to the shop and let them know that the overdrive light is bliking and that there is a code set.  They will know how to read the code.  If you do not experience shifting the car is locked in third gear to keep from damaging itself.  So, take it back and let them know that they need to resolve the situation.

You have a couple of problems here.  The first is the speed sensor.  I would replace it as it is cheap considering the cost of electrical diagnosis.  The second is the transmission.  If the overdrive light blinks it shows a code that has a problem.  I would take the car in for the transmission and see what the problem is.  It is probably locked in third gear as most Nissan cars do when there is a problem that will hurt them.  The transmission locks in third and the overdrive light blinks to let you know there is a problem.
