Nissan Repair: Engine Starts but car jerks, nissan altima gle, nissan altima

Hi, My 1993 Nissan Altima GLE starts fine, but it gives a jerk. When I shift the gear to drive of reverse the jerk increases and the car dosnt move smoothly. This problem was occuring very rarely, but the frequency has increased now. Earlier, if it starts jerking, I wait for a few seconds in idle, then the jerk stops after which the car will move smoothly. But now it doesn't stop jerking at all. It sounds like the engine is cutting out.  I would check the coils and the distributor to make sure it is not leaking oil onto the optical shutter wheel.  If it is you will need a rebuilt distributor.  Do a tuneup with plugs, wires and a cap first.  And, get a new fuel and air filter.
