Nissan Repair: Power Window _ Passenger Side, haynes manual, pep boys

Question
Nissan Quest 1999

The passenger side of the window is stuck in the open position. We've attempted to click on the control switch to get the window to closed to no avail.  How do I correct something like that?  I have basic knowledge with mechanical things and I want to save money by making my own repairs.

Mr. Von,

Thank you...

Answer
Liushao,

The window is probably stuck due to a defective motor.  You will need to remove the door panel to get to it.  rockauto.com is a good source if you can wait or Autozone, Checker or Pep Boys are good for aftermarket parts.  The parts store sells a Haynes manual that shows photographs of how to get the door panel off.  Now, check the switches before you do anything as the master switch on the drivers door could cause the problem.  Disconnect the battery and reconnect it and then start the van and use the drivers side and passenger side switch at the same time to see if the window will go up.  If not you are probably looking at the replacement of the window motor.
