Nissan Repair: Windshield wiper, phillips screwdriver, nissan sentra

Question
I have a 1997 Nissan Sentra - daughter left wipers on after turning off car.  Went to start in a.m. and blades were stuck (iced) to windshield and an immediate loud noise could be heard. After turning off wipers and freeing blades noise quieted but continued.  Motor appears to be still on and blades won't move- is this the linkage?

Answer
Lori,

Yes, the linkage is popped off.  You might get lucky and just have to take the grille off in front of the windshield and pop it back on.  It could be broken and then the pivot point on the end of the rod could be damaged so that would require replacement.  The only way to know is to take the cowl off and probably the wipers too.  Pop the covers off and a ten millimeter will allow the removal of the wipers adn a phillips screwdriver for the cowl.  The wiper arm and motor are ten millimeter too.
