Nissan Repair: 1997 NISSAN SENTRA WONT START, nissan sentra, nissan dealer

Question
Hi there,

I bought a 1997 Nissan Sentra. I'm learning to drive manual transmission. I have no prior experience with manual (but 2 yrs experience with auto). I stall the car in a signal because i don't know to drive it well enough. But the problem is after it stalls, it will never start again. I can see the wiper, audio, lights everything else working. No cranking happens. It's very silent when i turn on the keys.

I took it to MIDAS for a complete check including starter, alternator, and battery check(for $80) before i bought the car (2 weeks ago). He said everything was in good shape.

I also took it to a Alarm Security expert and removed the alarm system in the car thinking it caused the problem. After all these, the same problem still exists.

One last attempt made by the seller was to go to Nissan dealer and she changed her keys. It might be because of the immobilizer or epads or something the car computer has to do....

She has driven it for more than a year and had no issues with it. Everytime she starts the car, there is no problem. But when i try to start(I follow all the normal procedure used in manual transimission cars) , it hangs, then if anybody tries even if she does, it doesn't start.

is it a car problem ? If so, what can i do ? 3 of the mechanics said that they don't know what the problem is eventhough the problem was in front of them....(MIDAS, Quality Lube, and AmeriStar Outfitters Alarm & Security guys)...

Thank you for your help

Answer
Anish,

Be sure to have the car in neutral and the clutch pedal depressed all the way to the floor.  If this does not work press the pedal again and retry to start the car.  If this continues I would replace the safety switch on the clutch pedal.  When you take off from a light press the gas a little more and you should be fine on that one.  My bet is the switch is getting old and not making contact.  But, remember that the pedal has to be all the way to the floor to get the switch to activate and allow the car to start.
