I have a 2002 Nissan Maxima GLE. The driver's power seat doesn't work any more. I took the driver's seat out and found that the plastic cog on the drive train underneath was broken. Nissan says I have to pay $1500 for a new seat!?!?! Any ideas how I can get this fixed?

Patrick,

I do not know the name of the delaership but they are full of it.  The seat is available in parts.  Go to courtesynissan.com on-line and ask for the electric seat assembly only and you should save a bundle.  Another option is the wrecking yard or, if you have electric on the other side rob the parts and make the driver seat work.

I just called Courtesy Nissan and the guy in the Parts Dept didn't know what the electric seat assembly was. I'll try some other dealerships and see if I can find someone with more knowledge.

Answer
Patrick,

The bonehead at courtesynissan.com should know that he can look up the photograph of the seat on the computer and look at the bottom of the seat and get the part numbers and give you what you want.  I would call back and pitch a fit and talk to the manager.  he might want to employ people that can run the computer...  Or, you could go the the wrecking yard and source the part yourself.
