Nissan Repair: 95 Altima SE Differential, crank sensor, locking differential

Question
Okay. the sensor is on the outside edge of the bell housing pointing at the flywheel. the new tranny doesn't have a mount for this sensor. when i pulled the plug i got a crank sensor error PO0325 If i remember correctly. is that the crank sensor or a revolution sensor. either way, it is important that these sensors are present correct. could this still be the sensor for locking and non-locking differential.
i also have pictures now if there is a way to get them to you. thank you for all your help.

I have a 95 Altima SE 5-speed manual. Is the differential locking or non-locking in an SE?
2. I recieved a used tranny from a 97 altima that is a locking differential and there is a cut out missing for a sensor near the flywheel on the used tranny i received. any idea what that sensor is for on my 95 altima and do i need it for the used tranny?
3. Can i safely install the used tranny in my 95 and use the car without that sensor?
Answer -
Cory,

I think the cutout holds the switch that locks the differential.  You could always switch out the components to the old case and keep the sensor.  You could use the used transmission without the sensor and just not have a locking differential.

Answer
Cory,

You have to have that sensor as it is what tells the computer when to fire the injectors and plugs.  Let me know if there is a way to take the bellhousing from the old one and install it on the new one or you are going to have to figure out how the newer engine receives the crank angle information.  If memory serves me correctly the 97 has the sensor in the timing cover and not on the bellhousing.  So, if you can swap bellhousings and keep the rest from the new transmission you are good.  Let me know what you find.
