Nissan Repair: Front springs 1995 quest, lower ball joints, cv driveshaft

Question
Is it possible on a 1995 nissan quest gxe to replace the front springs without removing the driveshafts and lower ball joints? The struts are less than 2 years old and for some reason the drivers side spring broke.

Answer
Sean,

No, the spindle has to come off at the top to get the strut out enough to get the spring off.  But, the good news is the ball joint does not have to come off.  Just undo the two bolts on the spindle that attach to the strut and the one at the top of the strut tower.  Also, remove the brake line and ABS bolts where they attach to the strut and take the strut out.  The bad news is is will need another alignment.  The best way to do this is to take the CV driveshaft nut off and drive it back through the spindle to get enough room to get the strut out.  But, I have seen it done without doing this.
