Nissan Repair: Nissan Pathfinder Front Rotors, nissan pathfinder, wheel bearings

Question
Von,

I reviewed some of your past responses to a similar question but didn't find enough detail.  I need to pull the front rotors for my son's Nissan Pathfinder (1995).  I removed the caliper, and bolts holding the rotor to the hub but couldn't pull the hub. I removed the bolts and pulled the cap only to end up with springs and grease to deal with.  The cap holding the rotor on would still not pull free. Do I need to remove the C clamp in the hub to get the rotors off? I've put the hub back together but do I now need to repack the bearings?  Please be specific.  Thanks.

Jim

Answer
Jim,

If the rotors and hub are together you need to remove the retainer clip and then rotate the inner workings and the rotor will come off.  Yes, you need to repack the wheel bearings when you take them apart.  When you clean the bearings do it with carburetor or brake cleaner and do not spin the bearings with air to dry them.  use a lint free rag.  Repack pushing the grease through the race to get complete coverage and reinstall.
