Nissan Repair: Nissan Primera Brake Lines, skyline models, corrosion inhibition

Question
Hi

Simple question - are the brkae lines on Nissans in general, but specifically Primera's, mild or stainless steel?

I thought that due to regulations in Japan, that all  Jap cars had to have stainless

Thanks

Answer
Chris,

The lines on all cars that I am familiar with are cadmium plated or zinc chromate.  Stainless lines would offer not too much in respect to corrosion inhibition for the length of time a car is allowed to drive on the streets in Japan.  However, if you are referring to the rubber hoses being stainless that go from the body to the caliper there would be a benefit.  Again, I have never seen a requirement like this on Japanese cars.  But, I do not live in Japan but have seen several Silvia adn Skyline models that look just like US imports from Japan.
