Ford: Charging system, gm alternator, internal voltage

Question
I have a 1969 Mustang with a 302 engine. I can drive the car for days without any problems but
sometimes the battery goes dead. I have replaced the battery, the voltage regulator and the alternator. A volt meter shows 14 volts. With the lights on, the volt meter drops to about 13.5 volts, with the heater fan on, it drops to 12.5
volts. The times that the battery went dead, the car would not keep running on the alternator. The
times that this happened was night driving, with the lights on.

Answer
I would use a self exciting GM alternator on this one.
The alt bracket may have to altered. This alternator
with the internal voltage regulator sends current directly
to the battery. You can use the 61anp model and follow
the installation instructions. Disconnect the external
voltage regulator.
