Nissan Repair: Rubbing sound from the front / Nissan Primera 2002, nissan primera 2002, citrus cleaner

Question
Dear Von

Thanks for your answer which is really helpful. You mentioned the problem with the Alternator and if that is the case then why doesn't the sound comes when the gear is engaged and car starts moving forward (not in reverse) and not when the car is stationary?

Thank you

Regards
Syed

Answer
Syed,

Then you have a brake problem.  You might have a brake pad that is scuffing the rotor and it will only do it when moving forward.  Also, there might be a stone between the rotor and brake shield.  Check these out and email me back.  Nissan is quite sensitive to the new brakes that are the non-asbestos type.  I have simply used something like a citrus cleaner on the rotors and washed them with water and the noise goes away for a week or so.  Seems that the Kevlar dust makes noise where the old brake pads did not.
