Nissan Repair: ignition coil, nissan d21, defective coil

Question
I have a 91 Nissan D21 pickup 2.4L 4cylinder 241000 miles I think I have a defective coil, I'm getting a miss, plugs, distributor, wires are new and checkout ok. The miss seems to happen when the engine is running after about 5 minutes, I didn't check the egr yet, but I need to know what specs I'm looking for when I check the coil. Can you help me? Thanks in advance Rich

Answer
Rich,

Change the coil after all these years I know it is close to failure.  Also, the EGR is probably not bad.  But, the passage and port are probably full of carbon.  So, take the EGR off and clean the port and seat so it will stay on the seat properly.  If there is a miss that is usually the cause.  A chunk of carbon gets stuck and the EGR stays off the seat.
