Nissan Repair: 94 PathFinder Water Pump Replacement, brake pads and rotors, water pump replacement

Question
Last week I had my front brake pads and rotors replaced.  While up on the rack my water pump starts leaking and now runs like a sieve.

I cannot replace the pump myself but must ask a grage to do it.  I feel that I was charged excessively for the brake job($550)and don't want get strung over the barrel with this latest problem since I am not a wealthy man.

I was hoping I could get a general estimate on replacing the water pump and thermostat on a 1994 Path Finder.  If you have suggestions on different hoses to be replaced also, that would be great.

Thank you for your time and response in advance!

Answer
Adam,

I would go to a different shop if a front brake job ran you that much.  The waterpump and labor should set you back about $250 with coolant and required clamps and hoses.  But, remember that they are not going to change all the hoses.  And, if it were me I would be doing all the hoses so you could baseline the truck and know what is in good order and what is not.  I do not like having a hose that I did not replace fail when I have had other hoses replaced.  That is just my opinion.  When I did the wife's 2000 Maxima I spent $180 for hoses and clamps to do them all.  Of course that is only for the parts...
