Nissan Repair: Maxima wont start, nissan maxima, pwr windows

Question
Hi Von,

I have a 1993 Nissan Maxima GXE. I was driving the car over the weekend and the ABS light came on. After leaving it parked for two days, I tried driving it again but it wouldn't start. All I heard was a clicking noise when I turned the key; the engine wouldn't turn. Also, the shifter was locked in park even though I had the key in. After turning the key multiple times, my stereo began to fade, the dash lights became dim, the pwr windows/locks stopped working, and the clicking stopped. I thought it was the battery, so I had someone jump the car. The power returned, as well as the clicking when I turned the key, but it still wouldn't start. Another problem that I just recently began having is the right headlight and turning signal stopped working. Are the problems related?

Please let me know what the possible causes are, and what the necessary repairs would be. Thanks in advance.

Answer
Andy,

First replace the battery if it is found to be defective.  Take it to Autozone or Checker and have them charge it and check it.  If it checks good replace the alternator.  If it is bad replace the battery.  Buy a headlight combination blinker switch and replace it and the headlights will work fine.
