Nissan Repair: 2002 Nissan Exterra, battery cables, body control module

Question
I went on vacation and my car set up for about 7 days. It wouldn't start when I returned. It was discovered that the battery was corroded and the battery cables were corroded. I replaced the battery and the battery cables, but it still won't start. It started once, but the only thing to work were the headlights. The tail lights, blinkers, etc wouldn't work. Is there some sort of "Kill switch" that needs to be tripped in order to make the vehicle start and run? Thanks

Answer
Dale,

If the car will not turn over then you have an electrical problem.  If it turns over but will not start the Body Control Module has either been blown from jumping a dead battery or the computer has lost its memory and the keys will have to be reprogrammed.  Check to see if the keyfob opens the door locks.  If they do then I would take the truck to the dealer or someone like a locksmith that has a ConsultII scan tool to reprogram the keys.  They are computer controlled and their code has to be programmed into the computer for the engine to start.
