Hi.  I have a 1995 Nissan Maxima that will not start.  It makes no clicking sound at all.  The lights are bright so it is not the battery.  The starter is not original, it was replaced 2 years ago.  I took it to the local mechanic this week  and everything (battery, starter, ignition switch, starter relay, clutch switch) checks out o.k.  I am able to start it only if it is pushed or if i use a screwdriver on the starter itself.  Is there anything else I can check?

If you are not getting power to the starter it is probably the clutch switch

Still not working.  Where is the starter relay located?

Ramiro,

If all the aforementioned items check good you should check the starter relay and clutch switch as it is one of these.  That is, unless you have a aftermarket alarm and it is defective.  But, what I would do is get a test light and follow the starter circuit through all the devices, like the clutch switch and the relay, to see where the open in the curcuit is.

I found the problem--The connection to the clutch switch had a loose wire.  I will have to solder it as the dealer insists on selling me the entire harness at around $500.  I appreciate all the help!

Answer
It should be in the fues block.  If you turn the key you should hear it click.  Now, I am betting you need to probe the wire at the starter to see if you are getting twelve volts to the small post.  If not work your way back.  Or, if you are getting fire it is the starter and since you can push start the car and it was a rebuilt unit that was installed two eyars ago my money is on the starter being defective.
