Nissan Repair: Primera brakes, orange clean, disc brakes

Question
Hi, I have a 1998 Nissan primera 2 litre GT with disc brakes all round. When I'm braking at low speeds, just before stopping, I feel a kick through the brake pedal, at high speeds the brakes work normally. The pads were all replaced only a few months ago. I would be grateful for any pointers you can give me, much obliged Ian Jasper

Answer
Ian,

It sounds like the brakes need to be cleaned.  If you are using non asbestos brakes they tend to build up dust on the rotors and that causes them to grab.  If you can get some citrc cleaner for the kitchen like Orange Clean or the like just spray the rotors down and then wash them off with water and see if that does the trick.  Be sure to do this when the brakes are cool or you could warp the rotors.
