Nissan Repair: Bose sound system, nissan maxima, nissan dealer

Question
I have recently purchased a 1993 Nissan Maxima with a Bose sound system. The lights come on  the unit, but no display or function. I was told it may have a security code that has to be used to power it up. The car was down for several months for repairs. Any suggestions?

Answer
Bob,

First, did it ever work for you?  If not take the head unit out and see if there is a warning sticker for the security code.  If it does have one you will have to take the unit to a stereo speciality shop that repairs head units for dealers.  Most of the dealers do not have the ability to read and reset codes so check where the local Nissan dealer sends their head units.  Lastly, I would say you would probably be money ahead doing a changeout.  Crutchfield is a good place to start and they have the adapter for a Bose system.
