Nissan Repair: cv axles, cv axles, cv joints

Question
do cv axles have anything to do with the braking system? If so what effect can not having the cv axles replaced have on the brakes? Right now my car is making a "bad" noise. It sounds like my brakes. I have a '97 Nissan Maxima.

Answer
Joe,

CV joints will click when the boots have torn and the grease leaks out.  But, they start clicking when you make turns and then they get worse when you drive straight.  No, they do not make the brakes go bad but they can vibrate when they get really bad.  Maximas are known for their brake rotors being too thin.  If it were me and if the brakes have already been done once I would buy a set of rotors and pads and change them out and you will be back to normal.
