Question
2001 Nissan Maxima
When I am traveling on the freeway and I press the brakes to slow down my front end vibrates the faster the speed the stronger the vibration, this only happenes when I press the brakes to slow down.
Do I have a brake, suspension or an alignment problem?

Answer
Dennis,

Your brake rotors are warped.  Someone has used an impact wrench on your front wheels and has over tightened them and then when the brakes heat and cool they warp.  Check the owners manual but I think the torque specification on your wheels is 80 pound feet of torque.  Now that this has happened to you you will probably need a new set of rotors.  They go for about $65 each and while you are at it I would replace the pads.  Now, if the pads have been replaced recently you could reuse them.  Just remember, in the future, to let any shop know that you will not appreciate them over tightening your lug nuts and if they do you are going to hold them responsible for warping your rotors.
