Nissan Repair: transmission flush, nissan maxima, engagement problems

Question
I have a '94 Nissan Maxima which i just bought. The transmission fluid is brownish, so I thought it would be a good idea to get it flushed. A few repair centers did not recommend this, because of the car's age, they were afraid this could ruin the transmission.  Do you recommend getting it flushed? At the moment there are no engagement problems, no slippage etc..

Thanks,  Jim

Answer
Drive it until the transmission fails.  Put your pennies away because it will fail eventually.  But, whatever you do please do not change the fluid.  These people are correct.  An eleven year old car will fail if you change it now.  If you get a car that is new or with 25K miles on the odometer just change the fluid and filter every 25K miles and it will be fine.  But, with the years and miles you would be asking to replace the transmission shortly after the flush.
