Nissan Repair: trunk lid lock, nissan maxima 92, nissan maxima

My car is Nissan Maxima 92. I replaced a brocken upper lock unit on the trunk lid and discovered that the lower unit could not fit. I tried to readjust the lower unit while laying in the trunk and made sure the lower unit was not in the "cancel" position but failed to find the correct alignment. Do you know any smart way to finish the job ? Thanks

Check to make sure you have the correct upper unit and if you do not and got the part from the wrecking yard go back and get the lower part to match.  Japanese cars change design rapidly and I have seen on some of the same models that they differ on locks and such.  If you are sure it is the same then try to match the lock up to the old "Witness Marks" where the original part was and the bolts left marks.
