Nissan Repair: installing a new timing chain, gm tech, nissan pickup

Question
I have a 1997 Nissan pickup 2WD 2.4 and I'm installing a new timing chain. I have 2 different service manuals for my KA24E engine that are equally confusing. I've been an ASE certified GM Tech. for 10+ years, so I'm not confused because of my inexperience. However, the small amount of resources I do have aren't very clear about lining up the chain to the gears etc. Plus, I forgot to make the neccesary marks before I removed the old timing chain. What position do the gears need to be in, lining up the timing chain etc. Please, any info that is more detailed and less confusing than the books would be great.   Thank you.

Answer
I am sure that you already have the engine on TDC at the crank?  If so the next step is to make sure the dot and pointer align on the head and the gears.  The factory chain is marked to expedite the process since you have to load the loaded side of the chain and rotate the assembly two revolutions.  So, buy the factory chain and you will be ahead of the game.
