Nissan Repair: Horn - went off by itself and stays on, nissan altima, horn button

97 Nissan Altima

The horn went off by itself - locked car in the middle of the night.  As long as it's connected it's on.
Where to start?

First check the horn relay.  If that is not what is causing the problem then it is the horn button and that is on the steering wheel.  Bad thing is you have an airbag and I would take it to someone to replace the pad unless you are versed at working on airbag equipt cars.  It is very easy to light off an airbag if you do not follow the procedures to the letter.  And, you do not want to be in front of the thing when it goes off.
