Nissan Repair: 95 Maxima A/C Blower motor & resister, blown fuse, wrecking yard

Question
-Do you think a "used" part from a salvage lot will suffice? The used parts are 1/3 the price of new parts and considering the age... What would you do if you were facing the Texas summer soon? Should I also replace the resister to be safe? Thanks again!!------------------------

Hello! Thank you for your time and expertise.
My A/C blower stopped about a month ago. I have been "diagnosed" as needing the blower motor (which comes with the fan assembly, I'm told) and the resister replaced. How difficult is this operation, or more accurately, is it something that an expert should only attempt? I checked for a blown fuse, and I found no evidence of that. The diagnosis subsisted of the mechanic's knowledge and experience with this type of problem. Can I try used parts, or do you suggest new? Anything you can tell me will be appreciated.

The blower is on the passenger side, under the dash.  It is  a breeze to change.  Just take the passenger side apart.  Usually the glovebox comes out with a few screws and you can then see the bottom of the blower.  The blower motor usually comes with the fan attached if you purchase it at a parts store.  Just be sure to disconnect the battery first to make sure you do not short anything.  With the age of the car it is most probably the blower motor and you really will be surprised how easy it is to change.

Answer
I would go with a new blower from a parts store since a used one from a wrecking yard would not be far behind the one you already have.  The problem is the bushings in the motor are non serviceable and the old motor from a wrecking yard will have the same dry bushings as the one in your car.  It is just not worth it unless you find one in a wrecking yard that has already been replaced before it was sent to the bone yard.
