Nissan Repair: alternators, nissan maxima, pep boys

Question
i need to know how to remove alternator on 90 nissan maxima

Answer
Disconnect the battery first.  Then loosen the alternator belt and then remove the two bolts that hold the alternator on.  Once the alternator is loose remove the wire and plug from the back side and install the other in reverse order.  It is really easy.  But, be sure the new alternator has the proper pulley.  If they do not have the proper pulley take yours to the parts store and have them take your old pulley and put it on the new alternator.  Do not buy an Autozone alternator as I have had nothing but problems with them and you usually end up getting another one as the first one goes out in a month or so.  Pep boys, Checker, Kragen all seem to be pretty reliable.  But, if it were me I would spring for the money and buy a new one.  Don't bother buying a rebuild from Nissan as you are going to get the same thing that you would from the stores I mentioned and the extra cost would not be worth it.
