Nissan Repair: Short Ram intake on a nissan 200sx se-r, 1996 nissan 200sx, negative battery cable

Question
HI, my brother and I just recentley attempted to install a nismo short ram high flow intake into my 1996 nissan 200sx se-r. We succeded in getting it in and hooked up, however when I start the car it idles normal (1500rpms)for about 7-10 secs. and then it will start to drop to around 1000rpms and jump back and forth between 1000 and 500 rpms before finally stalling out. We tried resetting the ecu by disconnecting the negative battery cable for 10 mins and then starting it again. All sensors (temprature in filter and MAF) are in place and connected. All vaccumm hoses are connected and clamped. What else could be the problem. THank you for reading this I hope you can help me out.

Answer
It sounds like you have a vacuum leak for starters.  I would check the intake hose that connects between the MAF and the throttle body to see if the hose is cracked and also to see if the gasket is good.  Also, check the throttle position switch and make sure it is adjusted properly.  If it is not the EMC will not know where the idle reference point is.
