Nissan Repair: Maxima making noise in rear, rubber mounts, resonator

Question
Hello, I have a 2000 Maxima and I hear this squeaking and knocking in the rear section when I hit a bump. Sounds like exhaust is moving around so I checked it out and it the rubber mounts for the muffler were worn. I fixed that and now the muffler does not move around but I still hear it but not as much as before. What else could be wrong with it? Its only in the rear section and I only have 60,000 miles on it.

Answer
There are two things that can make this noise.  The first is the exhaust and I would be sure to check all the rubber hangers as there are many and they go up the back of the car to the front.  You might have missed the ones up by the resonator.  Also, there is a bracket that runs under the exhaust just after the resonator and the one I have was touching there and that is what was making my noise.  It was kind of a rattle and click.  Well, new hangers took care of that problem.  On the rear end the struts can make noise when you hit bumps in the road.  But, with as few miles as your car has I would doubt it.  I would look at the exhaust first.
