Nissan Repair: Fuel pump/ pressure regulator, nissan sentra, blown fuse

Question
My car worked on Friday, I drove it to work and back, I left it sitting all weekend, went to start it on Sunday evening, and it sounded like the battery was dead. I bought a new battery, then the guy that was working on it said, it wasn't getting a spark, so I replaced the plugs and wires, then it wasn't getting any fuel, thought that the fuel filter was bad, which it was, replaced it, and found that the fuel pump is pumping fuel into the filter, but it's not going anywhere past that, I am almost out of money and ideas, and am tired of replacing parts that may or may not be the cause for my car not starting. Do you have any suggestions? This is a 1996 Nissan Sentra GXE 4 door.

Answer
If you say the car was dead like it needed a battery I would assume a new battery lets the car turn over.  Fuel injection should be checked to see that the fuel rail is pressurized.  If not there is a blockage and I would be checking the lines from the filter to the injectors.  From what you say the car ran but died and then the battery was replaced.  I think the car would be going to a different shop since this guy is throwing parts at your car.  It is either fuel or spark and he has attacked both to no avail...  Is there a check engine light?  Probably not and I would be looking for a fuel injector or ignition fuse or fusable link.  You did say the battery had died that could cause an over heated circuit and a blown fuse or link.  Tell the guy to check those before he replaces any more parts.
