Nissan Repair: Nissan pathfinder door panel, nissan pathfinder, razor blade

Question
I have a 90 pathfinder with electric windows. Driver side window is not tracking properly and I have the door trim panel nearly off. My problem is the door release lever. I cannot find a screw or spring to disengage it from the door. What is the trick. Is there a special tool needed?

Mike

Answer
Hi Mike, If I remember right  about the door there is an outer ring of plastic trim around the inside door handle that can be carefully pryed off with a door panel tool or equivalent.  E.A. Small screw driver, radiator hose tool or anthing like that.  Be careful here or you will break it in half. Then the door panel will pull off around it leaving the handle fastened to the door. One common problem with these windows is  at the bottom of the window where it bolts to the regulator there are 2 nylon slotted window holders that come Unglued from the window. Take out the 2 10 mms. Lift the window right out of the door at an angle. Mark their location with a piece of masking tape. Clean the glue off the window with a razor blade clean the glue out of the plastic slot with a pick or small screw driver . Then epoxy them back in placed in the location marked. Dont glue the in backwards as the plastic pieces are offset for the regulator. Reinstall the window to the regulator with the 2 10 mm bolts make sure the window is in the tracks rubber channels. Roll up the window and leave it up overnight for it to set up. Spray the window channel rubbers also with some silicone spray periodically for smooth fast operation. . Mike
