Nissan Repair: starter problems, fly wheel, battery cables

i have a 94 nissan small pick up truck  engine2. something 5 speed    i was haveing problems with it not starting sometimes i would go under the hood and move the wirers around and it would start  now it wont do anything even moveing the wirers  so i pulled the starter out and had it checked  they said it wasnt working right so i replaced  now i put it back in and still no go i can hear a clicking but nothing  i checked the wirers and notice that right by the holder for the battery the wirers there looked like it was rubbing and i can see wirers  i checked them to see if any bare wirers where showing nothing  should i replace wirers   if so  how can i remember where they all go  do i have to repalce them all    could there be something wrong with the fly wheel would it be from a battery problem  please help  thank you very much for your time  sandy

First, I need to know what wire you are talking about.

Is it by the battery?

If it is battery cables, YES I would change them.

For these other wires, color coat them with twist ties or paper, that way you will know what goes where.
